Maidstone Invicta
Junior Squad now has over 70 young people taking part regularly in the sport. The
coaches aim to provide the opportunity for young people to learn to row in a safe
and enjoyable environment.
The junior squad training times are as follows:
Wednesday: 6pm – 7.30pm
Saturday: 10am – 12.30pm
The Saturday outing will finish by 12 noon, but extra time is left for ensuring
boats are put away and a chance to speak to the coaches
All young people from the ages of 10 – 18 years are welcome to join the squad.

The Maidstone Invicta Junior Squad has been part of the ARA's Project Oarsome scheme
for 5 years. As a result we are proud to be linked to Oakwood Park Grammar School
and Maidstone Girls Grammar School. This has proved to be a great success and we
look forward to continuing and developing this partnership.
The Henley Stewards Charitable Trust and ARA have supported the club through this
scheme and also providing coaching within the local schools.
The Juniors have experienced great success in the last 5 years
on both a regional, national and international level. We have had a number of boats
achieve Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at the National Championships, National Schools
and Junior Inter-Regionals. The club in 2007 was represented in the Great Britain
Squad at GB v France and Le Coupe de la Jeunesse by 2 of the junior boys. We hope
this success will continue and develop further.
The aim of the Junior Squad is to ensure that all young people
have the chance to experience rowing at either a recreational and or competitive
level. As a reward for our hard work the Amateur Rowing Association awarded the
Junior coaches ‘Coaching Team of the Year 2006’ in January 2007.
